EHEIM TORFpellets

Chemically acting filter peat lowers the pH-value and reduces the water hardness.

EHEIM TORFpellets consist of specially treated, acidic peat. It is rich in valuable substances such as humic acids and trace elements (therefore do not wash it). Peat pellets lower (acidify) the pH-value of the water and so reduce the water hardness. The pellets should, however, only be used if the pH-value necessary for the particular type of fish is exceeded. Peat filtration is particularly suitable for tropical clear to black water.

Natural volcanic rock for biological filtration

EHEIM LAV consists of volcanic rock and is a natural product. Its rough, highly porous surface structure provides the purification bacteria with very good colonisation conditions. Because it is a natural product the granulate and small pieces in the packs are of different sizes.
EHEIM LAV can be washed and reused. It is suitable for fresh and marine water.

EHEIM SUBSTRATpro

Optimised bio-filter medium with perfect volume usage, long intervals between cleaning and top decomposition performance.

SUBSTRATpro consists of pearl-shaped sintered glass. The spherical shape gives a high bulk density. Thus the whole of the volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) can be utilised. Also the optimum surface of the beads provides intensive colonisation of the important purification bacteria.
Due to the high number of bacteria, peak nitrite loads are more easily reduced and the maintenance intervals of the filter material are longer.
EHEIM SUBSTRATpro is suitable for fresh and marine water, is washable and can be reused.
